No 2 Talbot Village Cottage plan

This is an aerial view of what was originally No 2 Talbot Village and as described in the previous page of this exhibit, all of the cottages had the same number of rooms, even though they differed externally. 

The photo is marked to highlight where the well, animal shed, outside toilet and pig sty were originally. The well now is covered with a manhole inspection cover, but when I last looked there was still water in it.

Below is the groundfloor plan of the cottage. To the best of my knowledge the bathroom on the left would not originally have been there, and a bath would have been taken in a tin bath. The bathroom as it is now being included in the 1930's, taking up half of the original kitchen. The solid fuel cooking stove was on one side of the chimney in the dining room, and an open fire in the lounge on the other side.

Below is plan of the upstairs of the cottage, with it's three bedrooms. Originally there would have been open fires in the two bedrooms either side of the chimney, which would have meant carrying the coal in a scuttle up the stairs.
