Frank William Long

Frank William Long was born on the 16th of November, 1898 in Landport, Hampshire, the son of William and Mary Louisa. On the 8th of January 1899, he was baptised at St Bartholomew’s Church, Southsea, Hants. They lived at 9 Trevor Road, Southsea.

In the 1901 census, he was aged 2, still living in Trevor Road, with his father William, a draper’s porter, mother, Mary and siblings, Ethel (4) and Philip (under 1). Ten years later, in the 1911 census, the family were living in Kingston and East Southsea, with his father who continued to be employed as a draper’s porter and with his mother and three younger brothers, Philip (10), Richard (8) and Walter (5); he being aged 12.

In October 1924, he married Dorothy Trubridge of Bournemouth, in Portsmouth.

Two years later, on the 16^th of September 1926, he began his naval service. His first ship was the Victory 11.

In the 1939 census his wife Dorothy was living at 110 Howeth Road, Bournemouth. He was a Chief Joiner, number, P/MX 45723 on HMS "Beachy Head" in the Royal Navy.      

1n 1946, he died in Gosport and was subsequently buried at St Marks, Talbot Village, aged 47, his home was at 110 Howeth Road.
