Louis Stanley Adams

Louis Stanley Adams was born on the 15^th of July 1912, the son of Walter James Adams and his wife, Alice. His birth was registered in 1912 (Sep qtr) in Christchurch – his mother’s maiden name was Foakes. He was baptised on the 12^th of September 1912, the son of Walter James (a Tram Driver) and Alice, and living at 13 Cranmer Road, Winton, Bournemouth.

In the census of 1921, he was aged 8 years, 9 months, born in Winton and living at 13 Cranmer Road, Winton, with his father, aged 54, a Shedsman Checker for Bournemouth Corporation Trams and his mother, aged 44. Also there were his four sisters and two brothers.

In 1939, he was single, a newspaper office clerk aged 27, still living at 13 Cranmer Road, but with just his parents.

On the 10^th, 17^th and 24^th of November 1940, the banns of marriage were read at St Marks. He was a bachelor and his fiancée was Joan Carol Pafford (a spinster) – both were from the parish. Then on the 26^th of December, he married Joan at St Marks. He was 28, a Sergeant, in the Royal Artillery and both their addresses were 232 Columbia Road, Bournemouth. His father was Walter James ADAMS (deceased).His Service number was 278275.

On the 4^th of June 1943, he was promoted to 2^nd Lieutenant, in the Royal Regiment of Artillery and on the 24^th of October, in 1944 he died. He was a Lieutenant in the 144 Lt. A.A. Regt. Royal Artillery. Four days later he was buried at St Marks. He was 32 years old and had been living at 232 Columbia Road, Ensbury Park.
